Parramatta River, main part, and Georges River, second part run alongside the jersey. Parramatta River honors the Darug People. Many clans used this river for gathering purposes.
Pemulwuy is an Aboriginal Worrier. His name is inscribed on the Georges River. Pemulwuy, in Darug, means “earth/clay”. Pemulwuy was an intelligent man who sacrificed his own life for the sake of his fellow citizens.
Pemulwuy led approximately 100 Aboriginal Warriors during a raid of Toongabbie farm’s Toongabbie federal property in 1797. This battle has been called “battle in Parramatta”. Pemulwuy suffered seven bullet wounds in this battle. To show their gratitude, the colonists sent Pemulwuy to a hospital. These are the yellow points that signify these heroic soldiers fighting for their land.
Parramatta U Shapes, also known as Parramatta Eels or Parramatta U Shapes, are parallel to Parramatta’s river. They unite people and are often called “warriors”.
Parramatta player make up the back portion of the jersey. Lower right shows the Parramatta Club meeting location, where families and players can gather. They are what link the players back home. It’s important for them to keep strong ties to their loved ones.
